Tiger relocation: No signal from radio collared animal for three days

Forest officials have completed the first ohase of relcatiion of tigers to Sariska. Now, it is testing time for them. They are not getting any signal from the radio collar of a male tiger for the past three days, reports The Times Of India. |

Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has asked experts to probe the incidents of tigers straying out of Sunderbans. Those attending the meeting said experts should also check whether the behavioural pattern of tigers in the Sunderbans was changing. He wanted to know if the food chain of the tigers has been depleted and if there are deer and boars in adequate numbers in the wild, or if global warming had anything to do with the straying of tigers reports Times of India. |

Govt notifies 16000 sq km under protected areas network

Jammu & Kashmir: The government has notified over 16000 sq km under the protected areas network (PAN) which is 15.6 per cent of the total geographical area of the state. The notified areas comprise five national parks, 14 wildlife sanctuaries and 35 conservation reserves, reports Greater Kashmir News Network. |
